Lesson 2 of 13 · 8 min
Update the firmware to 2.3.2
Goal: Get the Zen onto firmware 2.3.2 using the web updater in Chrome or Edge.
The lessons in this course assume firmware 2.3.2 and Zen Studio Live. If your Zen is on older firmware, do this lesson first so the software in Lesson 3 matches what you see.
Steps
Connect PROG to the PC
Run a USB cable from the Zen's rear PROG port to the PC. Leave A1 and CONSOLE empty.
Open the web firmware updater
In Chrome or Edge, go to firmware.modcentral.ca. The updater runs in the browser; there is nothing to install.
Flash 2.3.2
Follow the updater's prompts to install firmware 2.3.2. The exact button sequence in the updater and any recovery-mode steps are documented at guide.cronuszen.com; this course does not restate them.
Know the legacy option
Zen Studio Legacy 1.7.0 b7 still works for firmware 2.2.14 and older. This course does not use it. If you are staying on legacy software, stop here and use the legacy docs at guide.cronuszen.com; otherwise update to 2.3.2 and continue.
| Item | Version | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Firmware | 2.3.2 | Flashed with the web updater (Chrome/Edge) |
| Zen Studio Live | 1.0.8 | Browser app, Chrome recommended. Used in every later lesson |
| Zen Studio Legacy | 1.7.0 b7 | Only for firmware 2.2.14 or older. Not used here |
Check: how you know it worked
- The updater reports 2.3.2 as the installed firmware.
- The Zen is still connected through PROG; you are ready to open Zen Studio Live.
